『Libertad』は、「今」の村上俊二を記録したアルバムである。
50年以上にわたってジャズと向き合い、演奏を続けてきた村上俊二。
その長い音楽人生の中で培ってきたものを、過去として振り返るのではなく、これからの村上俊二へとつなげるために制作された作品です。
タイトルの『Libertad』は、スペイン語で「自由」「解放」を意味します。
長い年月の中で身につけてきたものを大切にしながらも、そこに縛られることなく、今の自分にできる音楽を演奏する。
その思いが、このタイトルに込められています。
村上俊二のピアノを中心に、並木崇（Tenor Saxophone）、川崎聡（Bass）、北村和重（Drums）が参加。
「Early Spring」では山口淳子がヴォーカルを担当しています。
約7時間にわたるセッションで録音された演奏は、演奏者同士が互いの音を聴き、反応し、その瞬間に音楽を作っていくことで生まれたものです。
収録曲は、夏の記憶を描く「Memories Of Summer」、静寂の奥に潜む情熱を映し出す「Deep Silence」、山口蘭の詞と山口淳子の歌声が印象的な「Early Spring」、アルバムタイトル曲「Libertad」。
そして、このLPにはもう一つ、大きな意味があります。
LP版だけの特別収録
「明日よ来よ（instrumental）」を収録。
この曲はCD版には収録されていません。
つまり、LP版『Libertad』には、CD版の4曲に加えて、このアナログ盤でしか聴くことのできない「明日よ来よ（instrumental）」を収録しています。
5曲それぞれが異なる表情を持ちながら、一枚のレコードとして「今」の村上俊二を映し出しています。

【なぜ『Libertad』をLPで残すのか】
CDだけでなく、今回あえてアナログレコードを制作しました。
音楽を聴く方法が変わり、今ではスマートフォンやストリーミングで、いつでも簡単に音楽を聴くことができます。
それはとても便利なことです。
けれど、レコードには、音楽を聴くために少しだけ時間をつくるという楽しみがあります。
レコードをジャケットから取り出す。
盤面を確認する。
ターンテーブルに置く。
針を落とす。
そして、Side Aの音楽を聴き終えたら、レコードを裏返してSide Bを聴く。
『Libertad』というアルバムには、そうやって**一曲ずつ音楽と向き合う時間そのものも残したいという思いがありました。
村上俊二が50年以上かけて積み重ねてきた音楽を、データだけで残すのではなく、ジャケットを手に取り、レコードを触り、音楽を聴く。
そうした「物」としてのアルバムにすることで、この作品がこれから先も手元に残っていってほしい。
そんな思いから、CDとともにアナログLPを制作しました。
そしてLPには、CDには収録しなかった「明日よ来よ（instrumental）」を収録しています。
この曲を含めて聴くことで、『Libertad』というアルバムをもう一つ違った角度から感じてもらえるのではないかと思います。
50年以上の時間を積み重ねてきたからこそ出てくる音。
そして、これから先へ進もうとする音。
『Libertad』は、その二つが同時に存在するアルバムです。

Jazz Pianist Shunji Murakami’s Debut Album: Libertad

Libertad is an album capturing Shunji Murakami in the "here and now."
Shunji Murakami has faced jazz and performed for over 50 years. This project was created not to look back at what he has built over his long musical journey as the past, but to connect it to the Shunji Murakami of tomorrow.
The album title, Libertad, means "freedom" or "liberation" in Spanish.
Holding on to what he has acquired over the decades, yet never bound by it, he plays the music he is capable of making today. That core belief is embedded within this title.
Centered around Murakami’s piano, the album features Takashi Namiki (Tenor Saxophone), Satoshi Kawasaki (Bass), and Kazushige Kitamura (Drums). Junko Yamaguchi joins as vocalist on “Early Spring.”
Recorded during a session lasting approximately seven hours, these performances were born as the musicians listened to one another, reacted, and created music in the moment.
The tracklist includes "Memories Of Summer," evoking memories of the season; "Deep Silence," reflecting the passion hidden within quietness; "Early Spring," featuring memorable lyrics by Ran Yamaguchi and vocals by Junko Yamaguchi; and the title track, "Libertad."
There is another major significance to this LP edition.

This track is not included on the CD version.
In addition to the four tracks found on the CD, the LP version of Libertad features "Tomorrow Come (instrumental)," available exclusively on this analog record.
While each of the five tracks possesses a distinct character, together on a single record, they capture the "now" of Shunji Murakami.
【Why Release Libertad on LP?】
We deliberately produced an analog record alongside the CD.
The way we listen to music has evolved, and today, we can listen anytime, anywhere via smartphones and streaming. It is undeniably convenient.
However, vinyl offers a distinct pleasure: taking a little time dedicated solely to listening to music.
Taking the record out of its sleeve.
Checking the surface.
Placing it on the turntable.
Lowering the needle.
And once Side A finishes, flipping the record over to listen to Side B.
With Libertad, we wanted to preserve that very experience of facing music track by track.
Instead of leaving behind over 50 years of Murakami's accumulated musical wisdom as mere digital data, we want listeners to hold the jacket, touch the record, and listen. By creating a physical album, we hope this piece of work remains in your hands for years to come.
This led to the creation of the analog LP alongside the CD.
The LP features "Tomorrow Come (instrumental)," excluded from the CD release. Listening with this track included provides another dimension to experiencing Libertad.
Sounds that only emerge after accumulating over 50 years of time, alongside sounds striving to move forward—Libertad is an album where both exist simultaneously. Please hold this work in your hands as a record and take your time to listen.
